Illusion of Demoracy

To establish my credentials, I served 25 years with the U.S. Navy, then a second career of 19 years with the U.S. Sate Department Diplomatic Corp. I want you to understand the perspective I have gained from serving my country for 43 years. I love my country. During overseas assignments at U.S. Embassies around the world, I sometimes tell foreigners, which at time included even the Russians (we were permitted to socialize with them only at sponsored diplomatic events), THAT OUR SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD...BUT IT IS ROTTEN!

We often use verbally degrading language when we speak of other systems of government. This however is much like a "Ford-Chevrolet" argument in that it is human nature to defend and support a person's own. We don't understand why other countries...for starters...HATE US...and secondly why they don't want our system of government. If you can break away from the FORD/CHEVROLET mentality...long enough to actually look under the hood...you will start drawing some conclusions which will answer many of your questions. Other countries look at us and conclude, "IF THE U.S. SYSTEM IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF WHAT DEMOCRACY IS...THEN WE DON'T WANT IT!

Our system of government has long since departed from the ideas which our forefathers dreamed of when they formed our constitution. Ours is now a country run by Lawyers and the ACLU! Crime is rampant in our streets because we can't even begin to deal with it. In our system of government...NOBODY IS EVER AT FAULT! The lawyers will invent some new disease from which the criminal obviously suffers which allegedly absolves him from any guilt in the crime committed. Here in Florida, we are currently trying to deal with a man who kidnapped, raped, then buried alive, a 9-year-old girl. The people with whom he was living at the time, shielded him, covered for him...probably while the little girl was then still alive, bound there in the closet, have to the best of my knowledge, not been charged. Why Not?

We are a nation where it is folly for an officer of the law to arrest someone for a crime because subsequently, some judge will simply turn him loose. Therefore it was wasted effort to arrest him...and moreover, the officer now has an angry killer/criminal on the loose seeking revenge for his arrest. SO WHY BOTHER?

We get a death penalty handed down, and it takes more than 20 years to carry it out because we worry about such things as "DOES THE KILLER SUFFER ANY PAIN AS A RESULT OF THE LETHAL INJECTION?" Excuse me...But I prefer to ask the question.."Did Little Jessica Lundsford suffer any pain when he buried her alive...OR IS THERE ANYONE WHO CARES". Probably not...they are too consumed in their worry that the killer might be made uncomfortable in some way.

Sometimes people ask me, upon learning that I lived in Africa, WERE YOU NOT AFRAID TO LIVE IN AFRICA? I ask why? "Don't they throw spears at each other". They saw that on TV. I say, "What do you suppose they see on their TV?" You mean they have TV in Africa? Of course they have TV and let me tell you what they see on their TV...They see our children going to school and killing each other...they see a man rape, then bury alive a little girl, while our people look on and worry if such a monster might be made uncomfortable with a lethal injection.
So, NO, I was not afraid to live in Africa...I'M AFRAID TO LIVE HERE IN THE USA!

I love my country, but I'M AFRAID WE HAVE LOST IT! This country was founded on God Inspired Principals, but we dare not even mention God or his Son Jesus in America today. We might offend someone. We try to fight wars...WITHOUT OFFENDING ANYONE! Nobody is wrong, or out-of-line...they all have a right to do their own thing. As for little Jessica Lundsford, we will eventually get some outcome which basically says. "WHAT'S WRONG WITH A MAN HAVING A LITTLE GIRL OR TWO OCCASIONALLY, IF HE WISHES?" We have to respect his civil rights and who are we to judge him?

I might remind you that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. I suggest that you read the story and refresh your memory as to why he did so! One would have to be pretty ignorant to not realize that Sodom and Gomorrah would compare like a Sunday School to our society today.

What should we do? Build bigger and stronger prisons. THEN LOCK OURSELVES BEHIND THEIR STURDY WALLS BECAUSE CRIMINALS ARE GOING TO BE RUNNING THE STREETS WHILE THE LAWYERS AND THE ACLU DARE ANYONE TO INTERFERE WITH THEIR RIGHTS!
